“World Naked Beach Party Day, Gray Whale Cove San Francisco, California”
Come join the party! All are invited - You do not need to be registered with Photozella. So bring friends too! There will only be one official photographer present to record the event and he/she will ask your permission before getting close shots of you. So leave your cameras at home as normal beach etiquette is in place.
Saturday August 16, 2008
Gray Whale Cove - at Devil's Slide south of Pacifica (south of San Francisco)
Bring games, food, music, dance, body paint, or just your naked ass!
Lots of Photozella people will be there so come and meet us if this is new to you.
This is YOUR event - YOU make it happen. A few Photozella people will be there to provide some support, ideas for activities, resources, etc, but it is not a Photozella supervised event as such.
WE NEED VOLUNTEERS - so let me know:
- Mini van drivers to help people get there from the city
- Food coordinator
- activity coordinator
- general helpers
If you think you're going to try and make it, let me know so I have some idea of how this is shaping up. And let me know if you need a lift to the beach.
“Directions”
Gray Whale Cove is easy to get to but I don't think there is a sign identifying it; I have not checked for a while. The drive is about half an hour from downtown. From downtown get on the 280 and stay on that highway heading south/west. At some point it splits... stay to the right where it says highway 1. On highway 1, once you are leaving Pacifica you are only about 2 to 3 miles away. You first drive through a forested area, which then emerges onto a spectacular coastal road. You need to watch out for a large parking area on the left (east side of the road) and turn in there. There is a secondary parking area up a small hill from the lot.
If you drive to a point where you find Montara State Beach, you have come too far. (for drivers coming south from SF)
The trail down to the beach starts a bit north of the parking lot. BE CAREFUL CROSSING THE HIGHWAY, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE DISTRACTED BY CARRYING STUFF - CARS MOVE QUICKLY AROUND THOSE BENDS! Part way down the trail make note of the location of the porta-toilets. The rest of the way down is on well-built stairs. When you get down to the beach stick to the right and head north up the beach past the rock outcrop. You have arrived!
Driving directions from the south... From Santa Cruz just come up the #1 highway, well past Half Moon Bay and past Montara. Once you pass Montara State Beach you are very close. After the highway goes up a hill start to watch out for the parking lot on your right.
You can also come across from the 101 at San Mateo. Exit onto 92 west toward Half Moon Bay. You will take a scenic winding road to get to the ocean. At Half Moon Bay turn right (north) onto highway 1. Drive past Montara. Once you pass Montara State Beach you are very close. After the highway goes up a hill start to watch out for the parking lot on your right.
