“Want to be an Official Photographer?”

The main things you need to know:
- Normally Official Photographers do not get paid anything.
- You must copy ALL of your photos to me at the end of the day and you are granting certain usage rights by participating.
- You do keep copyright in your photos but commercial use is not possible except by special arrangement.

- You must be nude yourself - You will photograph both males and females and moslty in a candid style. If your thing is shooting "perfect" female bodies in contrived poses, this is not for you.

If you are interested in participating specifically as a photographer at Photozella outings please read this page carefully. It is an unusual relationship that you need to fully understand to find out if it is really for you.

SInce starting these photo outings a couple of years ago I have been adjusting the way photography is handled as part of the organization of things. My concept in the beginning was that everyone would be a participant and those that wanted to also do some photography would be allowed to. This tended to result in a lot of males hiding behind their cameras all day, and the females posing for them. That was not what I had in mind for the basic Photozella outing. I wanted a balanced group to have fun together but I also wanted to get some interesting photo impressions of the day.

The trend in my planning now is to define exactly who is an "Official Photographer", and those individuals would be the only ones focused on shooting throughout the day. Everyone including these photographers is still a participant and will appear in photos as well. Others may still shoot some photos, but only part time.

This results in fewer repetitious photos and more of a focus on activities.

There will sometimes be different arrangements with individuals or there may be certain special days where in fact modeling for photographers is the focus. Check the details for a given day if you are in doubt.

“What do I need to know?”

A typical Photozella outing will have several "Official Photographers". These individuals would have been chosen by me to participate on that day. I have several people I can call upon now that have come out a few times and I know are reliable, can help with carpooling, and providing other support. However, I am looking for a few new photographers so if you are interested, there are a couple of ways you can work on becoming an Official Photographer.

1) The best way is to apply to just participate and mention your photographic experience. You would then come to the first outing parimarily to participate but would at some point do some photography. At a later date once I have seen your images and have some impression of you and other things you can contribute to future events, I will decide if I can designate you as an Official Photographer. Do not be intimidated - you do not need a lot of experiece - students are welcome - and you can experiment in your own style of shooting.

2) If you are an exisiting experienced photographer I will consider you, but know that I get a lot of requests. So you may need to work on me a bit... let me know why this interests you, what you can bring. Maybe you can refer more individuals to model/participate, etc.

3) Why are there not more women photographers? I am looking for female photographers to particiapte.

“Things to be Aware of”

Photographers do not get paid. Even if everyone else on a given day is being paid, the Official Photographers are not normally paid. My reasoning is that what they are able to do at Photozella is a privilege and opportunity that would be next to impossible to do on their own without spending a lot of money. I am in effect supplying models and a shooting opportunity for them to expand their work and experience. It is also a way of finding models for their personal work to be done at another time.

The photos you shoot may only be used by you for non-commercial purposes such as self-promotion, and ALL photos at the end of the day are turned over to us. We are allowed to crop and adjust the photos as we wish and the photos are used commercially by us within the bounderies described elsewhere on this website and the agreement.

As a photographer you are also always participating as a photo subject and must sign the same release agreement as everyone else. And you have to be nude like everyone else.

“What Else do I Need to Know?”

If you want to be considered as an Official photographer, your first step is to complete the simple participation application form. But you should read everything else on the website first. Please go to page 1 and page 2 unless you are already familiar with all the details. Make sure you read everything on this website because it all applies to you even as a photographer.

If you do not think this is going to work for you for whatever reason... you do not want to be nude... or the responsibility is not something you can meet, then you may want to consider a Special Event we have planned for the fall of 2008: It is a day where any photographer can pay a fee and shoot hired models all day long in a natural setting.
